SUPERNOVA - ELECTRO LIVE CINEMA

Mash-up stage show

SUPERNOVA is a project combining motion picture and live musical entertainment based on public domain found footage from the first half of the 20th century, directed by film editor and director Beatrice Segolini and set to live music by musician and electronic composer Joachim Planer.

An interpretative re-edit of vintage clips, movies and commercials across decades, composing an impressionistic portrait of our society’s imagery between past and future, wonders and dystopias, naiveties and horrors. An experimental live soundscape overlays images decontextualizing them, connecting new meanings, joining the euphoria of our past promises with cynical echoes from our present.

Deconstructed in this manner, those outdated images reflect back to us our endless unawareness: how much of what we take pride of today will tomorrow make our grandsons cringe? How many of our past horrors still live in our collective subconscious? How much did we simply learn to hide?
